Beautiful Yosemite

Yosemite National Park, first protected in 1864, is known for its waterfalls and large granite cliffs. At nearly 1,200 square miles, the park is home to deep valleys, grand meadows, ancient giant sequoias, a vast wilderness area and so much more.

Pictured is a snow plant that I photographed during our visit to the park in 2014. The snow plant is a wildflower that emerges just before the snow completely melts in the higher forests and meadows along Glacier Point Road that climbs to more than 7,000 feet in elevation.
